Welcome to The Sikh and Punjabi Taboo forum! The purpose of this forum is to facilitate open discussions about “taboo” topics within a professional yet informal setting. Simply put, we want to help get the conversation started.
As voted by the community, the first event will focus on discussing Mental Health, a matter which unfortunately remains a taboo topic for many.
Join us on Wednesday 11th July 2018 when the forum will include a panel of guest speakers from a range of backgrounds relating to Mental Health awareness. Attendees will also be given the opportunity to network at the end of the forum.
Full details are given below. Please note that light refreshments will be provided. Men Tell Health will also be setting up their Gazebo for the event, so feel free to pop in and have a chat after the forum!

Panellists and Speakers
Neelam Heera: Paralegal specialising in serious injury claims, in particular brain injury. Neelam is also the founder of Cysters, a grassroots charity, dedicated to supporting women and improving the health, education and welfare of women living with reproductive health issues. They are culturally sensitive and inclusive regardless of background.
Paul Eggett: Cognitive Behavioural Therapist and HCPC registered Social Worker. Paul has in excess of thirty years of experience which includes establishing an independent clinical assessment and treatment practice where he works on loss, trauma, abuse and mental ill-health with children, adolescents and adults.
Permjit Kaur: Community Development Worker for Sikh Helpline. Previously employed as a Health Promotion Specialist for the NHS with the domains of Diabetes and Hypertension but also has undertaken project work with MIND regarding Mental Health.
Gary Pollard: Chief Executive of Men Tell Health (Mentellhealth.org
) a Multi-award winning Men’s Mental Health organisations based in the north-east, “an area with the highest suicide rate in the UK” .Winners of the prestigious National Diversity Award in 2017 for Community Organisation (Gender). Their Gazebo will also be available after the event for Men to view and also seek further support!

*Please note that due to the level of requests for tickets, if you are not able to attend and do not cancel then this will be noted for future events. In addition, given the nature of discussions, we request for only Adults to attend the forum. 16/17 years olds are welcome to attend as long as they are accompanied by an adult.
